Brawl Stars is a quintessential mobile game, combining a beloved top-down arena brawler with a hero-shooter that can make you terribly addicted to pwning your foes. However, with a storied history and veterans playing since release, newcomers to the game can feel intimidated when they’re being outplayed in almost every single match.
The good news is it’s just a matter of practice and getting familiar with the game’s mechanics more so than OP Brawl Stars characters that have been built over the years. So today, we’re checking out 10 Pro Brawl Stars tips to transform into a Brawl Stars aficionado.
That said if you’re in the market for some Brawl Stars Gems to unlock new Brawlers or skins, check out U7BUY to save you some real-world cash!
Tip #1: Get the Brawl Pass

The Brawl Pass is the game’s battle pass system that rewards players with a bunch of great stuff.
There is a free track which you can earn rewards with, but to get the best bang for your buck, especially early on, the paid premium Brawl Pass will reward additional Brawl Stars Gems, Coins, PowerPoints, Brawler skins, and even unlocks up to Epic rarity brawlers.
Tip #2: Identify Your Playstyle

Currently, the Brawl Stars is home to a diverse cast of 84 Brawlers each with their own distinct movesets and playstyles. But with such an expansive roster, it can be hard to identify the ones you actually like playing and excel at.
Some are close-range damage dealers, others are long-range control fighters, healers, tanks, and much more. Identifying the playstyle that resonates with you best will help you play more effectively.
For example, while I prefer a close-range fighting style, I noticed I’m better at playing long-range with Brawl Stars characters like Colt, Bo, and Emz. But at the start, play around with the characters you’ve unlocked to find your best fit before settling down on a Brawler.
If you need an even bigger boost of in-game currencies, the Brawl Pass Plus awards a bonus 20% XP, additional Power Points, Coins, Bling, Gems, and Chroma skins.
All these currencies will help you upgrade your Brawlers, get skins, and much more so it’s a great deal if you’re planning to take Brawl Stars seriously and get a jump start.
Tip #3: Master a Brawler

Once you’ve figured out your preferred playstyle, find one Brawler that fits your playstyle best. Each Brawler has different attacks and Supers which can be more or less effective depending on how you play them.
In that case, rather than playing multiple Brawlers all the time, it’s a good idea to master just one Brawler that you know you can excel with in most matches. This means understanding their mechanics and attack range, the best methods to engage with your enemy using their skill set, positioning, and more.
Knowing everything about a Brawler not only gives you an advantage over your enemies but will also teach you how to deal with other players using your Brawl Stars Brawler.
Tip #4: Get into Cover!
One of the key mechanics of Brawl Stars is the bushes and cover you’ll find on maps.
In most matches it’s a battle of attrition between players you can’t see hiding in bushes. Positioning yourself in a bush is a great way to keep your opponent guessing so utilize it as much as possible.
But don’t just stand in one spot on a bush since this leaves your prime for a counterattack and getting destroyed. Land a shot/ambush, and move away in the bush while keeping an eye on your enemy.
Unless you’re capturing an objective (like in Brawl Stars Gem Grab), it’s best to almost always be in some form of cover on the Brawl Stars map.
Tip #6: Upgrade Your Brawlers

Once you’ve figured out some Brawlers you like playing with and are good at, you’ll want to start slowly upgrading them.
Upgrading Brawlers will increase their health, attack, and their Super recharge time. It will also unlock Gear, Gadget, and Star Power slots which give your Brawl Stars characters more abilities and features to play with!
The problem is, that upgrading requires Brawl Stars Coins and Power Points which are in limited supply. So you’ll want to focus on upgrading the Brawler you’ll use most, and then diversifying into other Brawlers you like once you’re more comfortable.
Tip #7: Play With Your Team

Another important aspect of Brawl Stars (for team-based game modes at least) is playing with your Brawl Stars team. This is a common mistake many newbies make where they trail off by themselves only to get utterly decimated by the opponent team.
Stick with your team, engage when they do, and cover them when they’re getting pushed. You might think you can solo the entire Brawl Stars team, but in most cases you’ll realize that veteran players know exactly how to take down a lone wolf.
Try and stay close to your team whenever possible. Multiple Bralwers are always better than one.
Tip #8: Don’t Judge a Brawler By Rarity

With such a packed roster of Brawlers of different rarities, it’s normal to think that certain Brawlers are better than others. Brawlers can range from Common to Legendary and everything in between.
But understand that just because a Brawler is lower in ‘rarirty’, doesn’t mean they’re not effective. In most cases, if you see veteran players playing with lower rarity Brawlers, this means they’re going to be a menace who knows everything about the Brawl Stars character.
So the next time you face off against a Shelly, don’t underestimate them. Shelly is a fantastic Brawler to play with for short-range encounters and can truly excel even though she’s ‘technically’ a Common rarity Brawl Stars Brawler.
This also means if you don’t have any Mythic or Legendary Brawlers, don’t fret! As you play the game you’ll earn Credits which you can use to unlock any Brawler you want. It’s a lengthy grind but it’s well worth your trouble if you want to play Brawl Stars seriously.
Tip #9: Know Your Game Modes

One unique thing about Brawl Stars is the amount of game modes you can play. Most players will play Trophy Events which are regularly rotated in and out daily. From Gem Grab to Showdown, Brawl Ball, Hot Zone, Knockout, and more variations, there are plenty of game modes to dive into.
However, different Brawl Stars game modes have different objectives so you’ll be playing them differently. Additionally, some Brawlers excel better in different game modes, so once you’ve got the basics mastered on one Brawler, it’s time to try another Brawler that can be utilized in other game modes.
Since different game modes have different Quests that award XP, it’s a good idea to branch out and try other modes rather than just sticking to Brawl Stars Gem Grab for example. Not to mention the game’s Ranked Mode also has randomized modes so you’ll need to get familiar with each mode’s mechanics and strategies to get into Ranked Play.
Tip #10: Aim Your Shots!

For our last tip, it’s one of the most important parts of the game; aim your shots. While this might seem obvious, many newer players will simply tap on the attack button which automatically aims your shot to where a Brawl Stars Brawler is.
However, in higher-ranked play, you’ll notice these shots will always miss since other players move erratically to avoid shots. It’s best to get familiar with manually aiming your shot rather than relying on the automatic tracking.
Most Brawlers have different attack ranges and AoEs so understanding how far and how wide your shot can reach will make it easier to aim. Plus, for newer players, we’d recommend Brawl Stars characters with larger AoE attack ranges to make it easier to aim, like Emz or Poco. Instead of aiming where your enemy Brawler is, analyze their movement patterns and aim in the spot they’re moving into. This makes you more likely to land shots but does take practice to perfect.
