Fast-paced and Responsive Gameplay for Competitive Players
In most video games, especially in competitive modes, higher performance and faster responsiveness are usually preferred over better visuals or realism, right?
Good news! The EA FC team has confirmed that modes like Ultimate Team, Clubs, Online Seasons, and Online Friendlies will use a new mandatory setting called Competitive Gameplay mode. This mode prioritizes responsiveness, consistency, and control. It should deliver fast-paced, smooth gameplay while minimizing randomness, assistance, and other frustrating factors.
Here’s a list of features you’ll notice in Competitive Gameplay mode:
- Reduced number of auto tackles and blocks
- Revamped fatigue system
- Fewer tackles, blocks, and interceptions bouncing back to your opponent
- Reduced AI defending
- Faster passing speed and improved accuracy
- Better control and speed for dribbling, with faster execution of skill moves
- Increased heading error
- Increased unpredictability on crosses to favor player skill
- Increased unpredictability in corner kick outcomes
- Better and more responsive visuals and animations for smoother gameplay
- Players recover faster after being tackled to the ground
- All goalkeeper deflections are directed away from danger to reduce rebounds
Rebalanced PlayStyles and Attributes (New PlayStyles Added)
High-rated players without proper PlayStyles didn’t perform as well as expected in the past. The gap between attributes and PlayStyles was too wide, and the community wanted a more balanced system. In response, the EA FC team has rebalanced both attributes and PlayStyles while also introducing new ones and removing a few.
With the rebalanced attribute system, high-rated players will now have a stronger presence on the field and execute standard mechanics more reliably, even without a relevant PlayStyle.
As for PlayStyles, along with the overall rebalancing, we’re getting several new additions: Aerial Fortress, Enforcer, Game Changer, Inventive, and Precision Header.
Aerial Fortress
PlayStyle | Players perform higher jumps and have increased physical defensive presence before and during aerial duels |
PlayStyle+ | Players perform even higher jumps and have a greatly increased physical defensive presence before and during aerial duels |
Enforcer
PlayStyle | Players with the Enforcer PlayStyle perform dribble shoulder challenges and shielding with increased effectiveness |
PlayStyle+ | Players with the Enforcer+ PlayStyle perform dribble shoulder challenges and shielding with increased effectiveness |
Game Changer
PlayStyle | Fancy and Trivela shots have improved accuracy |
PlayStyle+ | Fancy and Trivela shots have significantly improved accuracy |
Inventive

PlayStyle+ | Fancy and Trivela passes have significantly improved accuracy |
Precision Header
PlayStyle | Players perform headers with increased accuracy and power |
PlayStyle+ | Players perform headers with significantly increased accuracy and power |
Power Header, Aerial, Trivela, and Flair PlayStyles have been removed, and their mechanics have been reworked and added to these new PlayStyles.
New and Improved Manager and Player Career

A large portion of the FC player base plays Career Mode, and the FC team has delivered several exciting new features for it. Here’s a look at everything new and improved in both Manager and Player Career modes.
Manager Live: Manager Live lets you take on new challenges and create fresh career stories, while also earning rewards along the way.
Manager Career with ICONs and Heroes: This feature allows you to build a career leading a club filled with all-time greats. You can set up your squad with any ICON or Hero, and with the Ultimate Edition, you will get access to 3 additional ICONs.
Manager Market: This new system introduces a dynamic managerial environment in Career Mode. Managers are no longer tied to a single club. They can be poached, sacked, or choose to leave voluntarily to pursue new career opportunities.
Authentic Gameplay: We’ve already discussed Competitive Gameplay, a feature that favors fast-paced and responsive action. Authentic Gameplay, on the other hand, is designed for those who enjoy a true-to-life football experience. This tailor-made setting is the default for both Manager and Player Career modes, offering a more realistic style of play.
Unexpected Events: These new events bring unpredictability to Career Mode. Things won’t always go as planned anymore. To create a more immersive and realistic manager experience, Unexpected Events are being introduced. These include sudden player injuries, surprise transfer offers, and more.
Overhauled Analytics: A completely redesigned analytics system that offers deeper data, improved scouting insights, trend identification, and much more.
As for Player Career, FC 26 is bringing some exciting new changes. Archetypes is a new progression system that lets you unlock and develop 13 different player builds, allowing you to create one that matches your playstyle. You’ll also find two new Origin Stories with more engaging narrative elements to make your journey even more immersive.
Player Feedback Matters
While it’s not exactly an in-game feature, player feedback now matters more than ever. FC 26 reflects a more community-driven approach, with the FC Community team actively engaging with players and showing that they’re listening and making changes based on feedback. One such example is High-Contrast Mode, a feedback-inspired feature that lets you customize visuals to create an experience that best suits your needs.
A Player Feedback Portal allows players to give their feedback directly to the developers, which allows for faster and more effective updates and changes. This Portal will launch along with FC 26. Players can also join the EA Sports FC Global Discord and give their feedback in channels. The team will regularly monitor and collect player feedback and do their best to implement it.
Speaking of the Discord server, there is also an EA Sports FC Pro Discord for high-skilled players’ feedback; an invitation to this server must be earned by qualifying for live events, so make sure to give your best and connect with other high-level players, and make your feedback heard.
