Grand Theft Auto 5 is the game that keeps on giving! Since it first launched way back in 2013, Rockstar Games has released several updates to keep fans happy, although the updated releases have always focused on the console version of the game.
This March, PC fans were finally treated to the latest improvements in the new Enhanced Edition of GTA V. This new release contains a range of graphics and gameplay updates available for free to anyone who owns the original game, finally bringing the console and PC versions of GTA 5 to the same level.
But PC fans have been treated to more than just fancy graphics in the latest release: they can now access Rockstar’s GTA+ subscription service, which was previously only available to console players. In this post, we’ll take a closer look at everything you get with a subscription and whether it’s worth subscribing.
If you’re about to start playing GTA Online on PC, you’ve probably got some catching up to do. A GTA+ subscription is a great place to start, but you can also hire a GTA 5 account booster to fast-track your career as a digital criminal.
What is GTA+?
GTA+ or GTA Plus is Rockstar Games’ premium monthly subscription package for Grand Theft Auto Online, the multiplayer version of GTA 5. For a monthly fee, players receive some in-game currency, free access to exclusive in-game content, discounts, bonuses on any Shark Card purchases of in-game currency, and more (see the complete list below).
The GTA+ subscription service was first available to console players in 2022, but PC players were stuck with an older version of the game and could not subscribe. Unfortunately, Rockstar Games has a long history of prioritizing its console releases over its PC ports, but that difference has finally ended—for GTA 5, at least.
What Do You Get With a GTA+ Subscription?
A GTA+ monthly subscription comes with an impressive list of benefits for GTA 5 Online players. Here’s a complete list of everything you get:
- A deposit of GTA$ 500,000 into your player account every month when you renew your subscription
- Access to The Vinewood Car Club property, featuring an expansive 100-car garage along with free vehicles and discounted prices on other models
- Use the Vinewood Club app on your in-game phone to order vehicles and ammo
- Earn more GTA$ from selected in-game missions
- Exclusive access to a rotating selection of skins, items, and other cosmetics that change from month to month
- Access to special Shark Cash Cards that contain 15% more GTA$
- Use CEO/VIP vehicles and taxi rides without spending your hard-earned GTA$
- Bribe the authorities to reduce your wanted level
- Easily find the Gun Van on radar for discounted access to rare weapons and armor
- Access to the GTA+ Games Library featuring a selection of Rockstar’s other titles, including Bully, the original Red Dead Redemption, and several older GTA titles.
cHow Much Does a GTA+ Subscription Cost?
GTA+ is a monthly recurring subscription, and it costs the same amount no matter what platform you play on: $7.99 USD per month. PC players can purchase a subscription directly from Rockstar through the Rockstar Games Launcher, while PlayStation and XBOX players can purchase directly from their console’s online storefront.
How Does GTA+ Compare to Buying Shark Cards?
If you’re a regular GTA 5 Online player, you’re probably familiar with Shark Cards, the official way to buy in-game GTA$ with real-world money. They’re available in several denominations, from GTA$ 250,000 for $4.99 USD up to GTA$ 10,000,000 for $99.99 USD.
Since a GTA+ subscription costs $7.99 USD per month, which includes a monthly deposit of GTA$ 500,000 in your GTA Online bank account, you’re already getting a better deal. The closest Shark Card purchase is the Bull Shark Cash Card for $9.99 USD, which gives you GTA$ 600,000.
If you want to compare it in actual dollar amounts, you get GTA$ 62,531 per dollar with the subscription, and just GTA$ 60,060 per dollar with the Bull Shark card. It’s not exactly a huge difference – just slightly over 4% better – but hey, cheaper is cheaper. Plus, there’s access to all the extra in-game exclusives that you just can’t get with a Shark Card!
Of course, there are other ways for smart players to buy GTA 5 money and finance their lavish online lifestyles for less. Why bother with the grind when you can just buy GTA$ at a fraction of the price?
Should You Subscribe to GTA+ in 2025?
So at last we come to the crucial question: is it worth subscribing to GTA+ now?
If you’ve ever considered buying a Shark Card, then it’s worth it to just go ahead and spend the extra couple of bucks on a GTA+ subscription. As you saw in the previous section, the cheapest Shark Card is $4.99 USD, and the GTA+ subscription only costs $7.99 USD.
The subscription service is also a great way for PC players who are just starting out in GTA Online to catch up to their friends. Instead of struggling your way through the heist grind to earn GTA$, you can take a shortcut to the top by just buying your way in, like any self-respecting criminal would. An extra GTA$ 500,000 every month can make the game much easier at the beginning!
Of course, if you’ve been playing GTA Online since the beginning, you’ve probably developed quite the little criminal empire by now. If you have your own passive income stream of GTA$ for free, the bonus GTA$ 500,000 each month is less valuable.
That said, even if you have your own empire, don’t underestimate the value of the in-game services you get, such as the Vinewood club’s special app and the ability to bribe authorities in mid-game to reduce your wanted level.
A Final Word About GTA+ Subscriptions
It’s worth remembering that the long-rumored GTA 6 is finally on the horizon, with many gamers speculating that it will finally be released in 2025. Since the GTA Online service – and by extension, the GTA+ service – depends on GTA 5 as the base game, Rockstar may take the opportunity to retire the older GTA 5 version of GTA Online and force all players to upgrade to the latest version of the game.
Of course, you’re probably planning to do that anyway, but we’ll have to wait and see how Rockstar handles the transition between the two!
