Apex Legends Cross Progression: How Does It Work

Surely one of the most played Battle Royale games ever is Apex Legends. In very little time, Electronic Arts has become well-known for its 2019 game release. Much so that, until subsequent development for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, the game was created only on PC Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. In 2022, a smartphone app called “Apex Legends Mobile” was created for both iOS and Android.

This would allow the players to also get cross-platform play among all the devices. This made many players ask for cross progression Apex to migrate from one device to another because you never know when you could end up switching devices, specifically with multiplayer games. EA delivered and gave them exactly that, so here is how Apex Legends cross progression works.

Apex Legends Cross Progression: How It Works

Probably the best thing about Apex cross progression would be the relatively easy carriage of your progress from one device to another, at your own comfort and convenience. This works based on their in-game account which is where their progression is saved. Progression entails all the in-game content including skins, weapons, weapon skins and heirlooms.

When it comes to the accounts, players on PC can carry their progression over through their Steam account, which is linked to the EA app needed to run the Apex game. For Xbox and PlayStation, you can just have those respective accounts linked to the EA app to carry your cross progression Apex over to any other console.

Now that you know about the account migration for Apex cross progression, how does it actually work? Well, cross progression Apex basically allows you to merge your Apex Legends accounts in the Apex game when you have more than one. This is mandatory for players because that lets them have their account with the highest level become one master account. Not only that, all the cosmetics and weapons skins you have unlocked on each account on each device are merged into one.

Another thing to note is that players are simply not allowed to have more than one account anymore and are pretty much forced by EA to merge all their accounts into one primary account. However, you have to keep in mind that Apex Legends cross progression does allow you to carry over badges into your new merged account, so it isn’t so bad.

Unfortunately for players, the Apex cross progression does not allow players who are merging their accounts, forced by Electronic Arts, to carry over their stats. Not only that, any badges in your Apex Legends account related to those stats will not be carried over to your new primary account. You will have to earn those back by playing the game fresh. However, if you’re lazy like us and don’t want to invest your time into earning back all those stats and badges, you can look into buying one of the Apex Legends account for sale.

You will receive an in-game notification asking you to merge all your accounts together into one master account and all of your items being transferred will be shown to you. You can use this account on whichever console you wish to play on and the cross progression Apex will be updated in general for the primary account, resulting in all consoles having the same progress for you. Your unified account will have the same level as the highest level out of all your Apex Legends accounts and will carry over all your Apex Legends coins, so that is a bonus for sure!

Unclaimed subscription rewards will not be carried over until and unless you have already claimed them. Similar to that, exclusive items for consoles like PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and Xbox will not be carried over to your new primary account after merging. This is specifically true for PS+ and Xbox Gold items like Apex Legends skins, which unless earned on both platforms will be exclusive to the console account. The unified or primary account will only display these specific items when you play on the corresponding console where you earned the item initially.

Needless to say, Apex Legends cross progression is a curse and a blessing at the same time for all players of the Apex game. Sure, your accounts being merged into one unified and primary account gives it the highest level you had on one of your accounts, but at what cost? You will have to pay the extremely steep price of not being able to carry over your stats and badges connected to them. Though, we must say that with just a little bit of gameplay, those stats can be earned back again, so we can’t complain much. It is still time consuming and rather repetitive for avid players of the popular shooter game. So, make sure to read up how Apex cross progression works!
