Brawl Stars Katana Kingdom Skin Unlock Guide

Brawl Stars Katana Kingdom Skin Unlock Guide

Brawl Stars has developed a huge roster of brawlers, each with their own unique skins and cosmetic options. The Katana Kingdom update added a whole new set of skins for seven popular Brawl Stars brawlers, but it can take some time to unlock them all.

In this post, we’ll take you through each of the new skins available in the Katana Kingdom update and show you how to add them to your collection!

When you want to speed up your progress in Brawl Stars, it really helps if you have enough gems on hand. But in case you don’t have time to unlock all the skins you want yourself, you can buy some Brawl Stars gems from U7BUY at affordable prices to get whatever you need!

What is Katana Kingdom in Brawl Stars?

The May update for Brawl Stars introduced the Battle for Katana Kingdom, a new month-long event divided up into several smaller week-long segments. Based on the aesthetics and style of feudal Japan with a modern twist, Katana Kingdom transforms the entire game with stylish new Brawl Stars skins, special Wasabi powers, and the new Sushi Roll mechanic.

In the storyline, Kenji is experimenting with a new sushi recipe, but it has some unintended consequences!

How to Unlock Every Katana Kingdom Skin

Of course, the skins Brawl Stars are what we’re really here for, and there are 9 new ones to collect. In a surprise twist, though, there are only 7 characters with new skins, since Piper has 3 Brawl Stars new skins all to herself. It’s not clear why Supercell did this, but she’s the only brawler with multiple new skin drops in this update.

Since there are so many skins to unlock in Katana Kingdom, you’ll have to get brawling in a hurry! Several of the new skins have different unlock requirements, so let’s go through them all, one by one.

Cursed Kenji

Cursed Kenji

First up is Kenji’s Katana Kingdom skin, Cursed Kenji, featuring an impressive samurai armor set complete with a fearsome horned demon mask (commonly known as men-yoroi).

This skin will surely be a favorite among Brawl Stars Brawlers, but it can only be unlocked by opening sushi rolls!

Shinobi Ash

Shinobi Ash

While the Shinobi Ash skin is a nice update, sharp-eyed brawlers will notice that it’s actually just a slightly modified recolor of a previous skin, so it may not be quite as popular this month.

Once again, sushi rolls are the primary way to unlock the Shinobi Ash skin.

Shukuteki Tara

Shukuteki Tara

Tara’s impressively weird mask is likely to make this skin another favorite among Brawl Stars Brawlers. Shukuteki roughly translates as ‘nemesis,’ so this Brawl Stars skin is a great way to scare your enemies with Tara’s dangerous new attitude and spicy wasabi power!

Brawlers can unlock the Shukuteki Tara skin by opening sushi rolls. Just remember that you need to already own the brawler before you can get any of their skins in sushi rolls!

Tanuki Sprout

Tanuki Sprout

The Katana Kingdom skins aren’t just dark and evil, as you’ll see from the first of the cozy skins for Sprout. Tanuki Sprout is dressed up as (you guessed it!) a tanuki, or Japanese raccoon dog. In folklore, tanuki are often seen as mischievous but well-meaning trickster figures.

If you want to get this adorable skin for yourself, you can unlock it by opening sushi rolls.

Tengu Angelo

Tengu Angelo

Tengu are mythical creatures in Shinto belief, often featured as birds like we see here with the new Tengu Angelo skin. This concept fits neatly with Angelo’s archery skills, although this skin doesn’t provide him with any extra powers.

If you’re a fan of Tengu, Angelo, or the two together, you can grab this Brawl Stars skin for yourself by opening enough sushi rolls.

Wanderer Grey

Wanderer Grey

Supercell’s naming system for these new Katana Kingdom skins feels a little random, as you can see in the Wanderer Grey skin. He’s clearly supposed to be a wandering samurai, which already has a popular term known to many people around the world: ronin. However, Supercell chose to go with an entirely English name for this skin instead.

No matter how they name him, you can grab the Wanderer Grey skin by chopping open enough sushi rolls.

Kasa-obake Piper

Kasa-obake Piper

Piper is unique in this season as she’s the only Brawl Stars character with three different skins available in Katana Kingdom. The Kasa-obake Piper skin is available by reaching Level 50 in the free track of the Brawl Pass, although her other two Brawl Stars skins require access to the paid pass.

Yokai Piper

Yokai Piper

In the Katana Kingdom skin set, Piper has two additional color options known as Chroma variants. Yokai Piper is clearly a blue-tinted Chroma variant with a fetching parasol, but you’ll have to pay for the Brawl Pass Plus and battle your way up to Tier 46 to unlock this skin.

Tsukumogami Piper

Tsukumogami Piper

Tsukumogami Piper is the final skin available in Katana Kingdom, a nicely two-toned Chroma variant featuring a cool-toned color palette of purple, green, and blue. Like the other Chroma variant, you’ll need to purchase the Brawl Pass Plus, but this time you’ll have to make it to Tier 48 before you can unlock this last skin.

What Else Was Added in Katana Kingdom?

As you might guess from the name, Wasabi powers give each brawler a spicy new special power with a combat or tactical advantage. Sushi rolls are the delicious new loot system, and each one contains items, new skins, or other cosmetics. The naming logic is a bit flawed, but everyone loves sushi!

A Final Word About Unlocking Skins

That’s a lot of sushi rolls to open! Many players have complained on Reddit and other social sites about the difficulty of getting rarer sushi roll drops, so it might be more difficult than usual to unlock all the available skins.
If you missed your chance to unlock all the skins in Katana Kingdom, you can head to the U7BUY store to improve your Brawl Stars account stats. These accounts have plenty of rare skins, trophies, and other in-game items to enjoy, so you’ll be sure to find one with the skins you want!
