Table of Contents

Fortnite’s fame began with its classic 100-player Battle Royale mode, but the wildly popular content crossovers help to keep the game interesting. Epic has added an impressive number of player skins from other franchises, but they’re usually only available for a limited time.

Every so often, a rare skin returns to the Fortnite shop, and everyone gets excited, just like the return of Chun-Li this June. It is only available for a limited time, so make sure to buy it while you can!

How to Get the Chun-Li Fortnite Skin

There are plenty of rare Fortnite skins that you can only unlock by completing special challenges or leveling up your paid Battle Pass, but Chun-Li is available for direct purchase from the Fortnite store.

Chun-Li's default style

The Chun-Li skin costs 1,600 V-Bucks in the store, but you can also buy her in a combo pack with Ryu, another popular Street Fighter character. The combo has a discounted price of just 2,200 V-Bucks (down from 3,200).

Her Fortnite skin is a little more expensive compared to some other skins available for sale. Other popular skins like the new Squid Game collab usually cost 1,500 V-Bucks, while some others start as low as 1,200 or even 1,000 V-Bucks.

Chun-Li is a rarer skin, so Epic seems to think that it’s worth a little more. Once you hear about all the extras included with the skin, you’ll probably agree that it’s worth the slightly higher cost.

Chun-Li includes two selectable styles, a special Street Fighter video game arcade machine named ‘Super Cab Masher’ as back bling, and her special Lightning Kick emote.

Why is the Chun-Li Skin So Popular?

Chun-Li is one of the most popular characters from the long-running Street Fighter franchise, so it’s no surprise that she’s also a popular choice for Fortnite players. She’s an Interpol agent with impressive martial arts skills, sworn to take revenge on the evil M. Bison for the death of her father.

Her Fortnite appearance matches her classic look from the good ol’ days of Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, released back in 1991. Chun-Li was one of the first playable female characters available in a fighting video game, so she has a special place in the hearts of many older gamers.

The Epic design team also included her famous Lightning Kick attack as a free emote for everyone who buys the skin. If you’ve played any of the recent Street Fighter games, you’re sure to recognize her classic attack combo. Old school Street Fighter veterans can relive the nostalgia, and new fans will discover just how fast her feet are!

However, even with all those advantages, one of the biggest reasons that the skin is so popular is that Chun-Li is a very rare skin. She made her first appearance in Fortnite back in February 2021 during Chapter 2: Season 5, but she has been unavailable in the store for nearly 3 years.

It turns out that when you offer a skin to Fortnite fans and then take it away, they become even more interested!

Why Was Chun-Li Removed from the Fortnite Store?

It turns out that Chun-Li wasn’t removed from the store – Epic just had to make room for all their cool new crossover content! Crossovers help make sure that Fortnite always feels fresh, but there is one major drawback: content overload.

Epic has launched a huge number of crossovers over the years. Known as ‘collabs’ (short for ‘collaborations’), they have been a part of the game ever since 2021 and the release of Avengers: Infinity War. Marvel arch-villain Thanos was added to the game to help promote the movie, and ever since then, the collabs have been a popular feature in all Fortnite modes.

If all that content were available all at once, the digital store would be so packed with skins and other items that it would be almost impossible to browse properly.

During the years that Chun-Li was unavailable for purchase, Reddit and other social media sites were filled with speculation that it was due to a licensing issue with Capcom, the original creator of Street Fighter (and Chun-Li).

However, there is no evidence that Epic and Capcom ever had licensing issues. Gamers love to hear about corporate intrigue, but sometimes, rumors are just rumors.

Are Other Street Fighter Skins Returning to Fortnite?

For now, the entire Street Fighter set is available in the Fortnite store. The Street Fighter set includes a range of other popular character skins: Ryu, Cammy, Guile, Sakura, and Blanka.

In addition to the popular Ryu and Chun-Li combo pack, there are also two other combos: one featuring Sakura and Blanka, and another featuring Cammy and Guile. Each combo is available for the same price: 2,200 V-Bucks.

There’s also a wide range of smaller cosmetic items available as part of the set, including pickaxes, back bling, emotes, and other in-game items.

Street Fighter 6 was just released on the Switch 2, so Capcom may have encouraged Epic to return these popular characters to Fortnite to help build up some extra enthusiasm from fans.

Chun-Li is only back for a limited time, but she’s not the only character who’s been hard to find in the Fortnite store. Fortunately for you, U7BUY has lots of Fortnite items for sale, even if they’re not available from Epic at the moment. Drop by today and pick up a rare item before your next match!
