With a new patch comes a new meta. And with the new meta comes a new Dota 2 tier list. It is well-known how frequently the meta changes in this game.
Patch 7.37 has brought quite a few changes to this game. A few changes to Dota 2 Roshan and a lot more changes regarding the break mechanic are just the tip of the iceberg. This new update has also brought a lot of changes to neutral creeps, items, and especially a ton of changes to the Dota 2 heroes.
After the facets and the innate ability update, the best Dota 2 heroes list has been completely changed. It’s crazy how one single ability can change the relevance of that hero, and with massive changes to abilities in this patch, it calls for a new Dota 2 Hero Tier List updated for August 2024.

We will rank these Dota 2 heroes in four tiers: S, A, B, and C tiers. Since the role of the hero decides whether they are viable in this patch or not, we would be making separate tier lists based on these roles:
- Safe Lane Heroes Tier List (pos 1)
- Mid Lane Heroes Tier List (pos 2)
- Off Lane Heroes Tier List (pos 3)
- Support Heroes Tier List (pos 4)
- Hard Support Heroes Tier List (pos 5)
Before getting into the Dota 2 tier list itself, let us understand what each of these tiers mean in our list.
S-Tier: These are the heroes that define the current meta. Currently, the best heroes in this patch. These are also the most-picked or banned heroes.
A-Tier: The second-best heroes in Dota 2. Since the S-tier heroes are very prone to getting banned, these A-tier heroes turn out to be the most-played heroes in every patch.
B-Tier: These heroes are neither extremely good nor extremely bad; they are decent and get the job done. You can choose a hero from this tier if you main them or if there is a great counter pick.
C-Tier: The C-tier heroes are completely situational. These heroes by themselves are not strong enough to be picked in a match. Despite being the weakest tier, you can still find heroes from this list that will strongly counter the enemies’ draft. That is the beauty of Dota 2.

Notes: Ursa and Broodmother are proving to have a great presence. Not just in the safe lane but they’re also effective in mid and off-lane. Chaos Knight, Lifestealer, and Slark have always been great late-game carries in most patches.

Notes: Ember Spirit currently has the best presence among all the Dota 2 heroes; it is over 80%, according to Dotabuff; meaning, you will see him a lot in your games. Shadow Fiend still remains to be an S-tier midlaner.

Notes: As mentioned, Ursa is dominating once again. Though it might be a risky play, Axe and Legion Commander are still good for backdooring. Do you know who else is great for the backdoor? It’s Beastmaster. His new innate ability, Rugged, gives him a 100% damage block against non-hero units. He basically won’t take any damage from the creeps, so busted, isn’t he? Also, Dazzle is showing a better presence in off lane than in support roles.

Notes: Pos 4 is an interesting role. You’re better off looking for heroes with good crowd-control abilities like Pudge, Rubick Hoodwink, Spirit Breaker, etc. Along with being able to support, you’re also expected to have a decent impact in fights, hence these recommendations.

Notes: Jakiro is the best hard support for this patch. In fact, Jakiro received a minor nerf to its level 10 talent tree, decreasing the bonus range from +200 to +150, but that doesn’t stop this hero from being the best hard support. Jakiro also has an amazing impact on team fights. Io, Oracle, and Tree are also great choices for this role.
