Genshin Impact 5.3: Massive Changes to Character Banners
According to the current leaks, the character banner system will undergo a huge change. Right now, if two new 5-star characters are being released, they appear in two phases. However, that is no longer the case from patch 5.3.
Two new 5-star characters are leaked for 5.3, and you will see both characters go live at the same time in phase 1. In phase 2, those new character banners will be joined with 2 rerun characters. Phase one lasts through the first three weeks, and phase two is weeks four, five, and six.
Here’s the best part: these new banners are going to stay for the entire patch—the entire 6 weeks, or 42 days! This gives you a lot of additional time to grind and unlock your favorite characters; it’s especially helpful for free-to-play players.
Genshin Impact 5.3: New Characters

Mavuika, Citlali, and Lan Yan are confirmed to be released in the upcoming Genshin Impact 5.3 patch. There are also rumors that the Pyro Traveler will be available in 5.3, but the information on this character isn’t as strong as the other three characters.
The new 5-stars are Mavuika and Citlali, both of which are included in phase 1. And for the first time in this game’s history, there will be two new 5-star character banners appearing at the same time. Both will be available for the whole duration of the patch. In the second phase, they will be paired with two other 5-stars, Arlecchino and Clorinde, which are rerun characters.
For 3 weeks straight, we will be seeing four 5-star character banners in the game at the same time; isn’t that awesome?
- Mavuika is a 5-star character from the Natlan region; her element is Pyro.
- Citlali is a 5-star character from the Natlan region; her element is Cryo.
- Lan Yan is a 4-star character from the Liyue region, and her element is Anemo.
Pyro Traveller, a pyro version of the traveler, is a long-awaited release. We already have the Geo, Electro, Dendro, and Hydro elements for the traveler, and we might get the Pyro version added in version 5.3.

Genshin Impact 5.3: New Signature Weapons

We already know how awesome signature weapons are. Not only do they look cool for cosmetic purposes, but when paired with their respective characters, these weapons synergize and provide better overall boosts.
Patch 5.3 will be introducing two new signature weapons, one for Mavuika and one for Citlali.
Mavuika’s signature weapon is called “A Thousand Blazing Suns,” which is a 5-star Claymore with 741 Base Attack and 11% C.Rate.
This weapon gives you the “Scorching Brilliance” effect, which increases your critical damage by up to 40% and base attack by 56% for six seconds—whenever you use an elemental skill or burst. If the character using this weapon is in the “Nightsoul’s Blessing” state, these effects increase by a whopping 75%.
Citlali’s signature weapon is “The Starcaller’s Watch,” which is a 5-star Catalyst with 542 Base Attack and 265 Elemental Mastery.
Starcaller’s Watch will give you a bonus of up to 200 Elemental Mastery. The active party member will have their damage increased by up to 56%, and you also gain the “Mirror of Night” effect while using this weapon.
From version 5.0, obtaining your favorite weapons was made easier by just collecting one fate point, and I’m sure all of you guys are waiting to get your hands on these new signature weapons.
Signature weapons are great, and whenever there are new weapons introduced in the game, especially 5-star weapons, they are going to be overpowered without a doubt. We never know when they will nerf or bring changes to these weapons; make sure to get them asap and progress through the game much faster.
How Reliable Are the Genshin Impact 5.3 Leaks?
All the Genshin Impact leaks provided in this article are more or less confirmed. These are taken from multiple reliable sources and are also confirmed by a lot of content creators on YouTube.
The probability of four 5-star character banners appearing at the same time is the craziest leak yet, and it is revealed by “Full Stop Chan,” a popular figure in the HoYoverse community, who is known to provide reliable information when it comes to banners.
The information about the release of Pyro Traveler is better taken with a grain of salt; not much discussion is going on about this particular leak in the community.
The only way to know what exactly will be added in patch 5.3 is to wait for the event that is scheduled in the third week of December, most likely on the 18th. This is where HoYoverse will reveal all the official information about the huge upcoming update.
Conclusion
The release date for Genshin Impact version 5.3 is January 1st, 2025. Along with this game, Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero will also be receiving massive changes.
If you’re a fan of the HoYoverse games, then it is a given that 2025 is going to be awesome for you!
