Whenever there is a new leak, we know how much hype it creates among the Genshin Impact community. Currently, the hype is all around Skirk, a character that most players might already be familiar with—however, the hype is that Skirk might actually become a playable character in version 5.7.
I’ve reviewed various reliable sources on Reddit, X, YouTube, and others, and here’s everything I found out about Skirk and her possible release in the upcoming months.

Genshin Impact Skirk Leaked Details: Where It All Started?

Skirk was an already familiar character from the stories in Genshin Impact, and there sure was a little hope in the community that she would become a playable character. The recent Genshin Impact 5.3 livestream has triggered that spark once again in the community because of the upcoming character release announcements.
During the livestream, the team revealed info about the release of a lot of new characters over the coming 6 months. This was followed by a tweet from the official Genshin Impact X handle, which showed silhouettes of 7 new characters—and the character that’s right in the middle—the community is super sure that it is Skirk.
Along with Skirk, Dahlia, aka Deacon Dahlia of the Church of Favonius, too might get released in 5.7 and the community is going crazy over that silhouette tease. If you remember, Barbara first mentioned Dahlia during Rosaria’s official intro.
But Genshin Impact frequently adds new characters from time to time, and what’s all this hype about Skirk? For that, you must know a little bit about her story and lore.
Who is Skirk from Genshin Impact?

Skirk is a student of Surtalogi, aka The Foul, who is the owner of the All-Devouring Narwahal and one of the Five Sinners of Khaeri’ah. It is said that Skirk lives in an ancient world where three months passed equals just three days in Teyvat. While it may sound interesting, the ancient world is on the darkest corners of the universe and is referred to as the dark realm.
Players who followed Tartaglia, aka Childe’s story closely are already familiar with Skirk. When the 14-year-old Childe falls into the abyss, it is Skirk who gives him a safe harbor and teaches him all his abilities, which makes Skirk the master of Childe.

It was also revealed that Skirk didn’t talk much to Childe, and she had trouble communicating with other humans; she calls that reason “difference in common sense,” which makes sense considering how Skirk spent almost all of her life in the Abyss. This is why Skirk is a mysterious character, and not much is known about her strengths.
Speaking of strengths, let’s talk about her abilities and powers through her story, leaks, and some speculations.
Genshin Impact Skirk’s Abilities and Powers

Being a student of The Foul and the teacher of Childe, it is safe to assume that Skirk is going to be one of the strongest characters in the entire Genshin Impact universe. Skirk was a strict teacher who taught Childe all his abilities, and we all know how strong Childe is.
Childe also stated that Skirk can defeat him with a single hand; this should tell you how strong Skirk is going to be, especially when she can defeat someone like Childe so easily, someone who is recruited to the Eleven Fatui Harbingers solely based on his combat prowess.
With whatever information we have till now, is it safe to assume that Skirk is going to be a 5-star character? She is such a powerful character after all. Anyway, here are the leaks about her weapon, element, and more.
Weapon: In the story, Skirk is mentioned as a “mysterious swordswoman,” and IMO, it’s safe to assume that Skirk is going to be a sword user once she becomes playable.
Element: There is no official information regarding this even in the story, but the leaks highly point out that Skirk might be a cryo-character and a DPS. I hope for this leak to come true because we haven’t seen any impactful cryo characters in the recent banners. I mean, Citlali sure is great, but I don’t think she created as much impact as Mauvika in 5.3.
Citlali also being a catalyst user and not exactly a damage dealer, players are really in need of a high-damage-dealing cryo character—so, is Skirk that much-awaited cryo DPS? Only time will tell. If the leaks do come true, Skirk might be a good addition to a team with Mauvika and the Pyro Traveller, who were recently released in version 5.3.
However, the community is expecting Skirk to be a new element—a new Dark element, to be precise. But the leak about her element came from hxg_diluc, a popular handle on X, thanking Full Stop Chan for the info, who is a popular and reliable leaker.

All of the previous leaks by Full Stop Chan regarding 5.3’s new 5-star characters, new weapons, new banners, and everything else have come true; you can find more about it here: Everything About Genshin Impact Version 5.3 Leaks. Considering that reputation, Skirk is most likely going to be a cryo user.
Conclusion
Skirk will be added as a part of the version 5.7 update; if everything goes right, this patch will go live on June 18th, 2025. Until the update gets released, or until we get official information, always take these leaks with a pinch of salt.
We’re currently on patch 5.3, and there’s still a lot of time until Skirk gets released. However, we have version 5.4 releasing in February, followed by 5.5 and 5.6 in March and May, respectively. These updates will also bring in new and interesting stuff, so let’s just wait and see.
