Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail Update

No matter how many enemies you defeat or how many new lands you find, your adventures as the Warrior of Light never truly come to an end. This trend will continue in the latest upcoming expansion for Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail. The time is just right for you to pack up your things and brace yourselves for a journey to the new continent of Tural.

Scheduled for release on the second of July, FF14 Dawntrail promises an epic storyline, new jobs, more game items, upgraded graphics, and various other additions. Before you head over and buy FFXIV Gil, let’s take a closer look at all the good stuff.

What’s the Storyline in FFXIV Dawntrail?

From what we know so far, the story will revolve around political turmoil taking place in the continent of Tural. For those of you familiar with previous expansion packs of FFXIV, you might feel that this is a pretty toned-down storyline compared to the evil-forces-battling action we have grown used to over the years. In Endwalker, for instance, you were pitted against Zodiark, a being with control over the power of darkness.

Square Enix hasn’t revealed much about the storyline, but we’re sure that FFXIV Dawntrail will have an equally intriguing story of its own, even if it doesn’t involve you battling supernatural forces and primordial beings!

Viper and Pictomancer Jobs Added

That’s right, we’ll be getting two brand new jobs with the FF14 Dawntrail expansion! The first of these is Viper, and it’s every bit as deadly as the name suggests.

This job’s main weapon is the dual swords, but these can be combined into a single blade to slice through enemies with greater force. From what we have seen in the official videos, the Viper job relies on its agility and reflexes, dodging counterattacks and exploiting the openings created by getting in quick blows. Some of the Viper’s techniques include:

Hunter’s Instinct: Amplifies the damage dealt

Noxious Gnash: Increases the damage sustained by the enemy.

Swiftscaled: Decreases the delay in auto-attacks

The other new job is the Pictomancer; these combine art with magic through the use of a weaponized paintbrush to lay havoc on the battlefield. While playing as the Pictomancer, players will be able to bring to life creatures to aid them in battle, weapons to keep combos flowing, and spells to disorient the enemy in various ways.

With every flick of your paintbrush, you’ll fill up your palette, which will then enable you to perform more and more powerful spells. This is a truly powerful job, so don’t let the bright and vibrant colors fool you!

Tural: A Whole New Continent

This new landmass lies to the west of the familiar Eorzea and comprises many interesting cities, which you, as the Warrior of Light, will get to explore. Of these, Solution Nine has drawn the most intrigue. From the images shared, this seems like a futuristic, dystopian city clouded in an eerie purplish glow. What secrets lie hidden within the towering structures of this enigmatic city?

In stark contrast to Solution Nine is the bright and bustling city of Tuliyollal. This coastal settlement is instantly recognizable by the abundance of staircases and steep, overhanging architecture. Tuliyollal seems to be one of the major cities of Tural, and you’re probably going to be visiting it often on your playthrough, maybe even purchasing stuff, so be sure to buy FFXIV Gil in advance!

Other places of interest include Urqopacha, home to the tallest mountain in Tural; Kozamaúka, a land of many rivers; and Heritage Found, a mysterious town with a strange connection to lightning.

It’s obvious that Square Enix has been putting in the hours to make sure we get to experience the diversity you’d expect throughout a whole continent. Each area will have its own identity, and we can’t wait to explore Tural in its entirety.

Graphics Overhaul

FFXIV Dawntrail comes packed with major graphical improvements for Final Fantasy 14. So far, we have been promised the following:

  • Better Shadow Quality: The dark is going to look more realistic than ever, forming a sharp contrast against the light.
  • Upgraded Textures: The Warrior of Light, his weapons, and the environment will appear more detailed.
  • Improved Materials Quality: Game items such as weapons and environmental objects such as water bodies will reflect light better, adding to the realism. This might be particularly beautiful to observe in areas like Heritage Found, known for its lightning effects.
