Ah, Clash of Clans, is probably one of the most definitive titles in the mobile space with ardently loyal fans ever since its release.
But one major thing hasn’t changed, and that’s about Builders in Clash of Clans being one of the most crucial aspects of your account. In most cases, you’ll want to ensure that you’re spending your Clash of Clans Gems wisely to unlock builders before anything else.
And for noobs who might be out of the loop, there is a way to unlock a 6th Builder in the game to help speed up your upgrading and building.
Today we’re breaking down everything you need to know about how to unlock the 6th Builder in Clash of Clans with all the prerequisites and some Clash of Clans tips to get started. What is the 6th Builder in Clash of Clans?
The enigmatic Clash of Clans 6th Builder in the game is B.O.B, a robot crafted by the Master Builder to free up his time. With Master Builder solely residing in the Builder Base, B.O.B will be your permanent 6th Builder in your Home Base.
This is both good and bad since the Builder Base 2.0 update changed how Builders work regarding moving from the Home Base to Builder Clash of Clans Base, so you don’t have to sacrifice a COC Builder from one or the other.
But this does suck from a lore standpoint since Clash of Clans Master Builder seems like he’s relegated only to the Builder Base. That said, with a trusty pair of extra hands on the Home Clash of Clans Base at all times, it’s worth the change.
How Many Builders Can You Have in Clash of Clans?
Before we check out how to unlock the Clash of Clans 6th Builder, you should know and understand how many Builders you can have in totality. This includes both your Home Base and COC Builder Base, which now house separate builders for each.
The Home Base can have up to 6 Builders, and the Builder Base will have 2 Builders.
Master Builder used to be able to travel back and forth between the two COC Bases, but now B.O.B will be a permanent Home Base Builder while O.T.T.O and Master Builder remain in the Clash of Clans Builder Base.
How Do You Unlock the 6th Builder in Clash of Clans?
Unlike the other Builders from your Home Base which require COC Gems to purchase, you can unlock the 6th and final Builder, B.O.B for completely free! Well the one resource you have to use though, is time in the real world, arguably the most valuable resource.
Unlocking B.O.B for your Clash of Clans 6th Builder slot will take quite a while and some dedicated grinding before you can use him as a Builder. Another thing to note is you don’t need to unlock all previous 5 COC Builders in your Home Base to get B.O.B.
For example, even if you have just 4 Builders currently if you meet the requirements, you can get B.O.B as your Clash of Clans 5th Builder and later use gems for the 6th Builder.
That said, to get B.O.B, there are a few requirements. Firstly, you’ll need your Builder Hall to reach Lvl. 9. Once your Clash of Clans Builder Hall is Lvl. 9, you’ll be able to build the B.O.B Control building at Lvl. 1 for 100,000 Builder Gold.
However, this only gets you to Lvl. 1 of the B.O.B Control building. The B.O.B Control building will be placed on stage 2 of the Clash of Clans Builder Base. To unlock B.O.B as your 6th Builder, you’ll need to get the B.O.B Control building to Lvl. 5.
Another caveat is this building is not upgraded with resources or requires time.
Instead, you need to meet 4 prerequisites before it can be upgraded to Lvl. 5:
- 3 Gear Up upgrades (Archer Tower, Cannon, Mortar). This requires a Lvl. 10 Archer Tower, Lvl. 7 Cannon, and Lvl. 8 Mortar in Home Base & Lvl. 6 Archer Tower, Lvl. 4 Double Cannon, and Lvl. 8 Multi Mortar in Builder Base.
- Any Troops upgraded to Lvl. 18. This requires a Lvl. 9 Star Laboratory.
- Any Defense Building in the Builder Base upgraded to Lvl. 9.
- Builder Base Heroes upgrade Level must be at least 45. This requires both the Battle Machine’s & Battle Copter’s Levels to add up to 45.
Once you’ve reached B.O.B Control building Lvl. 5, you’ll be able to place a ‘B.O.B’s Hut’ building on your Home Base, which unlocks B.O.B as your 6th Builder.
Some General Tips
As you can tell from the required tasks, the process will take a lot of grinding and leveling up before you can unlock the Clash of Clans 6th Builder.
In particular, getting the 3 Gear Up upgrades and COC Troops leveled to Lvl. 18 will be some of the more taxing tasks you need to complete. The good news is, even if your Builder Hall is not at Lvl. 9 yet and you haven’t built the B.O.B Control, you can still finish the prerequisite tasks.
This means that as long as you steadily upgrade the required tasks, by the time you build B.O.B Control, you may already have met the required prerequisites.
However, there are some known ‘cheeses’ that can help you along the way. For example, for the Defense building upgrade to Lvl. 9 prerequisite, you can upgrade a single wall block for much cheaper than other buildings.
Additionally, for the COC troop upgrades, prioritize troops that you know you will use instead of upgrading ‘any’ troop. For example, the Power P.E.K.K.A which is a strong and widely used unit that conveniently unlocks at Lvl. 13 after upgrading your Clash of Clans Builder Barracks.
This saves you time and resources that might’ve been wasted on less-used COC troops.
