One question that we often seen thrown around is ‘Just how free is Dragon Ball Legends?’. No surprise, really. Unfortunately, not everybody is going to be lucky. In fact, most people will never be this lucky. There are hundreds of Dragon Ball Legends characters in the game, and getting the exact one that you want from a random pull is nigh on impossible. There are people who have pulled a ‘free’ character every single day and never got anything.
That’s not to say that you need the absolute best Dragon Ball Legends characters. You don’t. It will just be a whole lot easier for you if you have them. So, we are saying that you could probably play the whole game for free, as long as you are happy not pulling the Dragon Ball Legends characters that you want (some people will be fine with that).
This is a Game You’ll Need to Spend Money On
Dragon Ball Legends won’t push you into spending money at the start. In fact, progress is pretty rapid for the first few weeks or months that you are in the game. As with all free-to-play games, Dragon Ball Legends will be throwing loads of awesome free stuff at you. Eventually, that will dry up. It will dry up at the time that you need all that stuff. Therefore, you need to spend money.
If you want to make any meaningful progress at the end game, then you’ll need to open up your wallet and spend some money on DBL. There’s no getting around it. Well, unless you are willing to wait everything out. However, we’ll talk about that grind later on.
Skill Is More Important
If you learn how the battle system works, then you’ll be infinitely better than the players that do not. Dragon Ball Legends is one of those rare free-to-play games where skill is far better than the characters that you use. You can be skilled, use the worst characters in the game, and beat somebody unskilled with a complete roster of decent characters. We love that.
You’ll need to spend a good chunk of time learning how everything works, but Dragon Ball Legends is such a fun game that we’re sure you won’t mind.
You Can Enjoy the Story for Free
There is a decent story in Dragon Ball Legends, and you can play all of it for free. If you are only playing Dragon Ball Legends because you want a decent story, then you don’t need to spend any money. In fact, the story will end up throwing you a ton of resources that you can use elsewhere in the game. However, the game will still try to encourage you to spend a little bit of money if you want to progress through the story faster.
No Pay? Lots of Grind
As with all other free-to-play games, if you are not spending money on Dragon Ball Legends, then your progress will be slowed down significantly. In fact, you’ll find that you will barely make any progress at all. It is a hefty grind. You’ll be spending hours and hours doing something that you can probably spend a couple of dollars to avoid. So, you’ll feel like, eventually, you’ll be forced into actually spending some cash on the game.
Unfortunately, there’s not a lot you can do about this. You either wait it out, or you spend the money.
