The holiday season is my favorite time to game. All our favorite games bring in something special for Christmas and New Year’s—and this time, most games have genuinely awesome updates.
As part of these updates, Overwatch 2 has reintroduced the Winter Wonderland. This seasonal event began in 2016 and has appeared each year since then. Because OW and OW2 are not separate games, this marks the ninth year of the Winter Wonderland event.

What Is Winter Wonderland in Overwatch 2?
Winter Wonderland is an amazing event that occurs every year in Overwatch 2. It begins somewhere around Christmas and lasts until January.
During this event, Overwatch 2 brings in limited-time game modes, free skins, awesome new rewards, and much more.
Overwatch 2: Winter Wonderland 2024 Game Modes
During this event, you get to play 4 limited-time game modes in the arcade section. In 3 out of these 4 game modes, you can only play as Mei.
Snowball Deathmatch: This is a FFA Snowball fight, where all the players play as Mei. In this game, you can pick up snow from the ground and shoot snowballs at your enemies; you can eliminate them with a single snowball hit. You can hold up to 3 snowball charges.
Mei’s normal attacks do not work in this game, but you can still use Cryo-Freeze and Ice Wall. If you get your timing right, you can even catch the snowball thrown at you and use it on your enemies in return.
Mei’s Snowball Offensive: This is the same as Snowball Deathmatch; expect it’s a 5v5 brawl instead of a free-for-all. In this mode, you can only hold a single snowball charge and you do not have the option to catch incoming snowballs, so shoot wisely.
Yeti Hunter: Yeti Hunter is your classic boss fight scenario; it’s a 5v1 boss fight. The 5 hunters controlling Mei must eliminate the Yeti, which is Winston. The Yeti can consume meat scattered around the map to go into rage mode and become more powerful; Meis must use their wall and other techniques to deny the meat.
The rules are simple: the hunters must eliminate the Yeti, or the Yeti must get 5 eliminations to win the match. You can choose to either play as the hunter or the Yeti at the beginning of the match.
Freezethaw Elimination: This is a 4v4 deathmatch, where instead of getting eliminated, players get frozen. Allies can thaw (unfreeze) their teammates and bring them back into the game. In this game mode, you can play as any hero.

Overwatch 2: Winter Wonderland 2024 Twitch Drops & How to Get Them
Make sure to watch Overwatch 2 streams on Twitch and get Gingerbread Ana, Reindeer Orisa, and Ugly Sweater Soldier 76 skins for free.
Along with these free skins, you also get a few more goodies like sprays, charms, name cards, and icons.
Here is how to get free Winter Wonderland 2024 rewards:
Assuming you already have a Twitch account (if you don’t, it’s very easy to create one):
Click on your Twitch profile picture on the top-right; go to settings and then connections. Look for Blizzard Battle Net, click on the connect button, and link both of your accounts.
If you do not see Blizzard Battle Net on your Twitch, follow these steps instead:
Go to https://account.battle.net/connections and log in—now, scroll down to find Twitch. Now click on +connect, click continue, and you will have both of your accounts connected. You’re now eligible for Twitch drops.
Now, simply open any of the Overwatch 2 streams that have drops enabled. Streamers usually put “drops enabled” in their title to make it easier for you.
From here on, you just have to watch the streamer for a specific amount of time to receive each reward. If you don’t want to spend your time actually watching these streams, you can always have them playing in the background.
Note: A total watch time of 15 hours is required to get all the drops. Also, make sure that you do not mute the stream; the watch time will not count—you can instead mute your browser tab.
